What we do.
We give general operating support, capacity building, project specific program support, challenge/matching grant, capital support, seed grants (grassroots), within each of our grantmaking interest areas. We like to think innovatively across causes for greater impact and continually learning. (See list below).
Cruelty Prevention and the Benefit of Animals: Safeguarding the vulnerable by preventing cruelty, providing care, and strengthening the human–animal bond through education, medical assistance, and shelter.
Christian Charities and Christian Schools: Supporting Christian nonprofits and schools for charitable and educational purposes (not necessarily religious), especially those serving underserved communities and overlapping with our other causes.
Environment: Preserving and restoring wilderness areas, waterways, and wildlife corridors to protect biodiversity, land connectivity, and expand environmental education and environmental programs/projects for underrepresented communities.
Midwifery: Advancing Dorothea Lang’s vision of midwifery as a stand-alone profession by supporting education, advocacy, and maternal health services (in underserved groups) in the U.S. and internationally.
Native American Indians: Focusing on children and youth education, and cultural sustainability through language, arts, and education while also supporting healing, peace, and justice for Native communities.
Palestinians: Promoting peace in the Holy Land through nonviolent activism, and supporting cultural, educational, and direct service opportunities for Palestinians.
Where?
We like to work with not-for-profits who collaborate with others creating greater impact for each Sparacio cause. We predominantly focus in geographic areas related to John Sparacio and our board members, as well as international areas related to our specific causes.
Who?
We currently only fund not-for-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organizations doing work that aligns with Sparacio causes.
We have a very strong preference for making grants to grass-roots, small, and mid-sized organizations.
We seek to empower excluded and marginalized populations.
We support capacity building in organizations that can benefit greatly from modest contributions.
